  • Notes:

Except for one year at Collège Stanislas in Montreal, E. Pascal fulfilled his entire career at Laval University in Quebec. He spent a lot of his energy in making a success of the Greek component of classical studies at Laval. His great pedagogical qualities as well as his competence while sitting on numerous and various committees were an invaluable asset for his department. His premature death at the age of 44 stunned the whole university community, in Quebec and Montreal as well as in many other universities throughout Canada and in France. He had so many things to say on Greek mythology. His drawers were full of manuscripts which he wanted to bring to a high degree of perfection. Professor B. Moreux of Universite de Pau in France, a colleague of his who worked in Montreal at the time Pascal started his career, edited part of these papers at the request of the editor of Melanges d'etudes anciennes—in Memory of Ernest Pascal.
